I volunteer with Counties Manukau Cycling, Cycling New Zealand - Auckland Inc and as a Commissaire. I raced bikes back in the 80’s and came back to the sport 10 years ago. I like watching kids learning new skills, pushing themselves and achieving, what they might have considered, beyond their abilities. In my day job, I work in film, television and content.

A lifelong passion for cycling resulted in assuming the role of Race Director for Canterbury Schools' Cycling. It was a logical step to be nominated for the executive of Cycling New Zealand Schools'. I am delighted to be part of a group dedicated to delivering quality cycling events and promoting cycling for all.

From Palmerston North. Became re-introduced to cycling when my son was given the opportunity to start Road Cycling at year 7 PNINS.
We were very fortunate to come in on the back of a wave of amazing Schools Cycling Families where all parents were very supportive of all riders.
Traffic management and becoming part of the local club Bike Manawatu followed very quickly whilst starting to compete myself.
Currently Chairman of Bike Manawatu, Event Director of Novice Tour and have a great group of people in support.
Focus for me is cycling community, bringing clubs, families and schools together. Continuing to make cycling a fun, inclusive sport

I started cycling when I was 11 after watching Sarah Ulmer at the Sydney Olympics. Before that I didn't know that cycling was an actual sporting option, and that kiwis were good at it! I was instantly hooked. I rode all through high school and did every schools cycling event that existed. Schools cycling was a huge part of my early love and foundation to what would be a 15 year career in professional cycling, including 3 CWG and 3 Olympics. My career took me around the globe, through highs and lows, and gave me opportunities and learnings that I would never have gained otherwise.
My last hurrah as a professional cyclist was at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. From there I went into an internship with Cycling New Zealand, completed my Master's in Sport Management and then into my current role as Head of Cycling at St Peter's School, Cambridge. I have been a member of the schools executive for 4 years and I hope to help the growth and development of schools cycling for many years to come. Cycling has given me over two decades of joy, and many other valuable and great things. I would really love to give back to the sport that gave me so much and help others find joy on two wheels too.

Mark Donald
Wellington/ East Coast North Island Rep and Technical Chair
I started racing as a schoolboy in the UK after being inspired by Stephen Roche at the Tour De France. Cycling then took a back seat while I studied at university in London before taking it up again, mostly competing in time trials. I moved to New Zealand with my family in 2010 and started racing locally in the Wellington region, with some very moderate success as a masters rider. Family took over, and I became involved in Schools Cycling when my daughter started racing back in 2016. This was the start of an amazing journey through road, track, cyclocross and ultimately MTB and the World Championships in Andorra in 2025. I gained my commissaire qualifications during this time and now commissaire across road, track, cyclocross and MTB. I joined the CNZ Schools Executive in 2001 and currently serve as the Wellington and East Coast North Island representative, as well as the Vice Chair and Technical Chair.

Alex Mann
Canterbury Rep
Alex is a long-time Canterbury cycling organiser, rider, and parent who helps run Christchurch Schools Cycling. He is passionate about creating safe, fun, well-run racing where young riders can build confidence, make mates, and discover the joy of going full gas for absolutely no sensible reason.
As part of the Schools Cycling Executive, Alex is focused on supporting schools, parents, and riders while helping grow the sport across the region.

Cath Cheatley
West Coast North Island Rep and Treasurer
I'm the Treasurer for Cycling NZ Schools and work closely with the Cycling NZ team, helping keep the finances on track so we can keep doing what we do.
I came through Schools Cycling myself, racing for Sacred Heart College Whanganui. I loved racing the Points Race at Manfeild and those school racing days helped develop my skills and race craft, introduced me to some great cycling mates and ultimately put me on the pathway to racing my bike for a job (best job ever!).
These days I enjoy giving back to the sport that gave me so much. I'm involved locally in Whanganui and am passionate about giving young people the opportunity to experience cycling in a positive and supportive environment.
